Diaper Need Awareness Week 2023

Fall is almost here! With Fall comes Diaper Need Awareness Week.

What is “diaper need”? Diaper need is defined as, not having a sufficient & adequate supply of diapers in order to keep babies dry and healthy. Not having a sufficient supply of diaper can lead to financial, emotional, and health issues. Not having a sufficient supply of diapers not only impacts the baby, it impacts the entire family.

Diaper Need Awareness Week 2023 is September 18th  thru Sept 24th. Diaper Need Awareness Week is an initiative started by the National Diaper Bank Network as a way to bring awareness to diaper need in our community.

According to the National Diaper Bank Network’s recent “Diaper Check 2023”, 1 in 2 families struggle to provide enough diapers to keep their baby clean, dry, and healthy.

Last year in recognition of Diaper Need Awareness Week, we were able to get three proclamations. We received proclamations from the Mayors of Eutaw and Tuscaloosa, and the Governor of Alabama.

It is our goal to increase the awareness of diaper need in our community. An increase in awareness comes from continued community donations and support.

Like last year, we are asking community members, business, and organizations to host a diaper donation drive on our behalf or make a donation. All items and funds collected with benefit families in Greene and Tuscaloosa Counties. We have a goal to collect seven thousand or more diapers by the end of Diaper Need Awareness Week.

Ways to support Bottoms Up:

-Volunteer

-Donate diapers and other baby essentials

-Financial contributions

-Host a diaper drive

-Share our information with others on and off social media

We are able to do what we do with the continued support of others. Help us continue to serve the families in Greene and Tuscaloosa Counties.

– Bottoms Up Diaper Bank has been serving families in West Alabama since January 2016.
